Hi, I'm new to this forum and building my arcade cabinet as we speak.  I using GameEx as my frontend and as space is an issue have decided to go the route of an LCD widescreen monitor rather than the more traditional CRT.  All's going well, however I want to allow mame to expand the screen to take up the entire widescreen on horizontal games, but on vertical games keep the original (3:4) aspect - or maybe 4:4.

I can use "-nokeepaspect" under the mame command options which will do exactly what I need on horizontal games, however it does the same for vertical games, and fills the entire screen which obviously I don't want to do - 1941 doesn't work on 16:9!

Does anybody know a way of making -nokeepaspect work only for horizontal games, or maybe any other ideas?

Thanks for your help,

Ryguy

I'm not sure about other FEs, but Mala has conditional Mame command lines.  See the attached jpg.

Thanks SGT, that's exactly what I need.  I haven't seen anything like that in GameEx.  There's lots of configaration possible, but I don't think there's anything conditional.  If I get no joy, I'll go onto the GameEx forum and see if it's something they're introducing - worst case I'll swap to Mala!
Cheers,

SGT

I quickly skimmed over your post and didn't catch you were using GameEx.  GameEx is a great front end, and I'm guessing that Tom or Headkaze has a solution.
