I wonder which will cost more: buying a Street Fighter IV cabinet, or buying a PC with enough power to run it "arcade perfect" and building a cabinet around it? :P

Still, it's cool to know. This will undoubtedly end up in the libraries of many BYOACers.

It will probably run decent on a pc. I can't see it taking too much power.

It shouldnt be too bad, in PC terms.  Im more worried about the onboard video card Im using in my cab holding up.  I dont really want to buy a $150 card to get it playable.

It might require a decent PC  for full graphics details, since I guess it use the same codebase as Xbox 360 version.

So I guess a Onboard graphics is nogo and a least require one of the newer graphicscard.

Wee see when PC specs comeout.

The big problem I can see is that it appears to be 16:9 and around 720p. Getting a CGA-able monitor that also accepts HD looks like it's going to suck.

Does anyone know where I can get a 33" custom made LCD that's 4:3?  :banghead:

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

How about buying a solid-gold house instead?

About the same price....

Yeah, it's hopeless I know. Especially pulling a CGA compatible one  :laugh2:
I've seen 1 or 2 LCD monitors of this size in arcade machines around here in So Cal. so I know they exist. They've gotta be custom built in bulk. I can probably buy one of their machines for cheaper... hmmmmm~

Otherwise, It's looking like I'll either mount a 50+ inch 16:9 LCD TV over my existing speakers (totally covering them and sacrificing sound) or picking up a 33" megaview which hopefully would have decent resolution for SFIV.

well, i doubt that sf iv will REQUIRE a widescreen....although....it would be about 1000x cooler, maybe they will have letterboxing for 4:3 displays
also, i know call of duty 4 runs as low as 640x480, so here's hoping this will run at a low res as well (for those of us with the old oversized crts)

Any recent news about the PC port coming out at the beginning of next year? I'm definitely interested in adding it to my cabinet. Since I'll be using a 25.5" 16:10 LCD monitor in my cab, I'm thinking this would look outstanding on it. Just hope the controls are remappable and that it's cab friendly. :)

Last I heard (err, read)  SFIV isn't coming to U.S. Arcades.

My guess is that it will need a least a Pentium 4   2.4ghz with 512ram and a 128MB directX 9 capable videocard.
