Finally...a NEW hiscore.dat file by Leezer!
« on: May 16, 2008, 04:23:45 pm »
Well...it took over 2 years, but Leezer got around to releasing a new and improved hiscore.dat file over at his website. This is a must for anyone using hiscore support for their MAME.

Go grab it over here: http://www.mameworld.net/highscore/

...and be sure to tell him THANKS!

Any idea what games are added?   I'd really love to see VS. Balloon Fight added.

If I'm using the previous version of the hiscore.dat, do I need to delete any files in the "hi" or "nvram" directories or can I just update the hiscore.dat?

All you do is drop in the hiscore.dat file.

I'm not sure what games were added and/or updated. You can search the dat file in a text editor like word or notpad and search for the driver.

I did just that.  I looked for the VS driver...found many VS games,  but not Balloon Fight.  Also though,  Excitebike didn't show up and the current .dat most certainly supports Excitebike.

I guess the best thing to do is simply drop it in and see.

After downloading the DAT and placing in same directory as Mame32.exe ...

"Soft Reset" appears to clear out the game scores.

Is this normal?

Trying to save high scores...forever (and in a flat file if possible)
