WANTED: XBOX (not 360) dvd drive

hi everyone, my original XBOX that my son uses all the time is giving us the ol' "dirty disk error" so i'm wondering if anyone has a working xbox dvd drive they would be willing to part with. i can always goto gamestop and buy a used xbox for 60$ but i was hoping to find a drive in the 20-30$ range instead.


can anyone help?

I have bought several used Xbox's that were listed on ebay from the Seattle Goodwill that had good drives, and I was able to buy them for less than $35 shipped. They are listed as "untested" but the ones I have bought from them were in great shape.

have you cleaned the laser eye?

it's fairly simple to do and worth a try.

I've got one in the garage with a busted power supply.  You can have the whole thing if you want it, just pay for shipping.

I've 'fixed' my PS2 the same way...  worth a shot if you haven't done it yet.

sorry guys i should have said that in my first post, i have tried, cleaning as well as adjusting the laser all to now avail, i even replaced the IDE cable thinking that was the problem.....
