New Game Room: Change of Plans...
« on: May 12, 2008, 06:58:47 am »
Ok. I had plans to build a new room addition onto my house for the purposes of an exclusive game room. I got many estimates and they were all more than I wanted to spend. The whole reason I wanted to go this route, is because I have a completely empty room in my house, but the hallway is too narrow for the machines to turn and go down the hallway through the hallway access (or so I always thought). This may be hard to understand, but please bear with me. I measured many times and came to the conclusion that there was just no way I could get them into the hallway and turned into the vacant room. So, last night I just said "What the hell, I'll give it a try and damn the measurements." Low and behold, I got them all in the room even though the measurements said it was not possible. Took LOTS of maneuvering, but they made it. No I have room for my Addams Family Pinball. I just saved myself $10,000.

Control panels had to come off for clearance issues, and monitors had to come out so the cabs would be easier to move in tight spots (MK4 is already in the room)

The whole front of the MAME cab had to come apart/off...

I am just glad that they all fit. It's a load off my mind knowing that I won't have to spend that kind of money to add on a room when I had a perfectly good empty one to use. I lucked out deciding to take a chance to see if I could get them in there.

Current collection - 28 cabs, 4 pins. (32 machines and not enough room)

That is awesome man!! Having all 4 dedicated MK's is great!
IF you run into anymore space problems you could always put more than one board in a machine like I did..

I actaully said it backwards in the video when I said that the MK1 had the kick harness with the diodes, its the MK2 that has the diodes. And MK1 is the first game to boot up since its a dedicated MK1 cab.

Nothing looks sweeter to me than 3 or more games side by side like that. That truly makes it look like an arcade.

You are SO lucky to have the space. I have a 12'x25' addition that is going to be my bar/gameoom, but the project keeps getting waylaid by other things. I actually bought most of the material to do the inside, then suffered a plumbing leak that has forced the gutting of one of my bathrooms. For now, I have 2 games in my computer room and 3 in the garage. The trickle down from that means that I'm working on my truck out in the driveway, and motorcycles that used to be treated like members of the family are banished to a shed in the back yard.

What a hobby! Why couldn't I be into collecting stamps or Matchbox cars? :laugh2:

Yeah, one thing you have to remember is that the Mortal Kombat cabs are much larger than average. My MAME cabinet is in an old Blitz cab (same design) and it's the biggest in my entire collection. They're wide, tall, and heavy as can be.

Yeah, I thought about that a few times. It's funny you posted this because I saw your machine on Ebay just yesterday.

I couldnt resist ebays .50 listings.  I'll usually list all my games for a HIGH price when ebay does that just too see if someone around here really wants it.  If not, no big deal Im out .50 cents.
