I'll send Youki a PM. I don't know if they have permission to use Atomic in a commercial project.

You may want to kill that link before a moderator does it....

...--cream-filled twinkie-- is selling the unit WITH ROMS and even has the gall to say so.

This jerkoff isn't too far away from me, and a friend of mine is considering buying one of his cabinets for sale, but I'm going to talk him out of it.

Now I'm looking at it again, and I see what I saw the first time. I don't see any roms listed, only that it includes emulators. Most people are like "Includes 5000 games!" or whatnot.
I recall now that I looked it over the first time and decided it was okay to post it.

What the hell dude?  I built that thing for ME a long time ago...(Hence the artwork, Im in the military and I like the green urban camo design I made, if someone doesnt like it then they can change it)   Its just been sitting there collecting dust so once ebay finally came out with one of there cheap listing days I figured why not list it at some outrageous price and see if someone is willing to buy it.  I dont really want to sell it, but if someone is willing to pay the price then it would really be worth it; if it doesnt sell then im out .50 cents.  I'm sure you would do the same.

As for the "Jerkoff" comment, your talking crap over the internet, plain and simple.  NICE!
Go ahead and report it, I don't care, I'll just get my .50 cents back if they remove it.

As for the AtomicFE prog, I'll take it off out of respect for the guys hard work if he wants me to, no prob.

Funny how you knew exactly where to look to see who's talking crap.

Your reply to me on eBay:
Quote
Who are these "People" you speak about?
Are they a bunch of computer geeks at BYOAC or KLOV forums that wouldn't buy it anyway and just want to bother someone else? This is a computer in a fancy wooden box, plain and simple.....

I just got through saying that I looked it over and thought you did nothing wrong. Simply sent you a message saying you should clarify.

As for the jerkoff comment, that was aimed at your price. If some idiot buys it at that price, other people think they can get that much too, and you contribute to driving up prices for the rest of us.

Thats called supply and demand.  You obviously weren't going to buy it, you've had an ebay account since '03 and have one feedback.  So why do you go around searching for peoples auctions and then threatening to report them if your not even considering buying?
Im not jacking up the price, there are tons of MAME machines that show up on ebay that sell for over $$2500.00 and they advertise the number of games they have on them.
Most of the people on this fourm can build there own anyway, so why would they care noone here would buy a premade mame machine unless it was at a price more than half of what its worth and I'm not building multiples of these to sell commercially, this is my own private machine I thought I would try to get some money out of.
So my aim for this auction is at those people who dont have the knowledge, skills, or time to build there own thats called "business".  The price doesn't matter, if your not interested don't buy it,  a friend of mine said it best

"people who are too picky to buy real arcade cabs should be gratefull for stuff like mame.
not only that but people dont understand ebay, if someone wants to buy it then  your price is your business.
I sell games to people all the time and see them put stuff on ebay at 3-4 times as much. i dont care. after all somthing is only worth as much as someone wants to pay for it. "

This topic is another reason I usually avoid this forum...Too many people who just want to talk down about someone elses work leaving the choosen few members that actually help everyone. Because this topic clearly isn't helping anyone.

If your being such a good friend, then help them build there own custom one that suites there liking.  Buying one someone else made won't have that personal touch.  Theres more joy in finishing a project like this then there is playing it for me.

I've been there and looked around a bit, but never joined. I found my cabinet on KLOV from a guy in Wichita Falls. (I am in Oklahoma, though. Duncan to be exact)

I honestly dont like the idea that all the arcade ROMS are so easy to come by.  I would prefer that everyone had to buy the real arcade PCBs so that they were actaully worth something again.  But on a side note; if it werent for the Roms I would have had lots of trouble fixing lots of the games boards I buy so they are very usefull in that respect.  I also like to play the game on mame before I buy it just too see if its any good(If I havent played it before).

I wasnt trying to sell ROMs with my auction.  I just wanted to try to get some extra cash out of my machine itself.  Having the roms on the hard drive really is a mood point to me since anyone with a little research can find and download any rom they want.  But im not going to list the machine as having x number of roms as a selling point.

I'd still have something to say if this were an arcade cabinet for $1200, but dude, it isn't even an arcade cabinet. It's just a CP with a PC inside.

I don't think the people on this forum need your help deciding if something is crap or not.
Its actually more original than a stand alone in one spot cab which is why I found it more appealing to build one like this.  I also ask that you not call my design "crap" .  So far all I have seen from your posts on this topic and other topics is how much other peoples stuff is crap.  Why dont you just build your own "crap" and quit judging other peoples work as if you are better. :blah: :blah:

I called it crap based on the price alone. The item itself is great, just not worth the asking price.

As for me building my own "crap", as you put it, I already have.

And I haven't shat on anywhere near as much as you seem to think I have. Do I call them as I see them? Yes. I've always been a very opinionated person, for better or worse. I'm not alone on these boards, that's for sure.

Now, let me be petty and laugh at something you wrote:

How many 'real' arcade games do you own? Practically everyone here has a mame machine but doesnt actually own any real games.  That seems a little hypocritical to me.

I have 12 REAL games, and dozen of REAL PCB's, so I think I am more legal than you.

How many 'real' arcade games do you own? Practically everyone here has a mame machine but doesnt actually own any real games.  That seems a little hypocritical to me.

For background, I used to raise a ruckus about what I considered overpriced MAME gear ... but, at the end of the day, life is too short AND, if I get the opportunity to sell a machine for a ton, then I'll probably take it (clearing space and raising funds are both good things).

So, I don't ---smurfette--- about high-priced MAME cabinets any more.

OTOH, the overt inclusion of ROMs crossed the line as to what I am willing to ---smurfette--- about.

I agree 100% that there is some degree of hypocrisy with people who are happy to violate the IP of others for their own purposes, but freak out when people make a buck off of it. OTOH, there is a BIG difference between some random guy on eBay offering to include ROMz in his auction (in complete and total violation of eBay policies, not to mention the law) and someone who adds levels to an old game (thus enhancing the experience for others).

I have more machines that ToplessZ.

I expect that I have more PCBs than ToplessZ (although with recent thinning, that might not be the case).

I wouldn't, for a second, believe that I am more entitled than he is to include ROMz in anything I do.

I certainly wouldn't be foolish enough to state it explicitly in the auction description.

ToplessZ -- take your lumps on the ROM issue -- there is no winning argument for you to make.

As for pricing, if you can get that price, then more power to you.

The word 'moot' refers to a meeting of lawyers which is, by definition and common-sense, worthless in the real world.

I agree with Cheffo - as usual, he manages to cut through the crap like a 'hot knife through butter' and find the important points underneath.

I've sold a bunch of cabs on ebay before.  But explicitly including ROMS is not the way to do it.  The important thing is, I don't make ROMS a selling point - in fact, I put pretty comprehensive disclaimers about the sales NOT including ROMS into the ads.  My cabs are worth the money without the ROMS, and my many happy customers seem to agree.  I have no doubts that the buyer will have no problem getting a few DVDs full of the ROMS if that is what they want.

Let's all act like cows and Moooo!
Check out my completed projects!
