How many 'real' arcade games do you own? Practically everyone here has a mame machine but doesnt actually own any real games. That seems a little hypocritical to me.
For background, I used to raise a ruckus about what I considered overpriced MAME gear ... but, at the end of the day, life is too short AND, if I get the opportunity to sell a machine for a ton, then I'll probably take it (clearing space and raising funds are both good things).
So, I don't ---smurfette--- about high-priced MAME cabinets any more.
OTOH, the overt inclusion of ROMs crossed the line as to what I am willing to ---smurfette--- about.
I agree 100% that there is some degree of hypocrisy with people who are happy to violate the IP of others for their own purposes, but freak out when people make a buck off of it. OTOH, there is a BIG difference between some random guy on eBay offering to include ROMz in his auction (in complete and total violation of eBay policies, not to mention the law) and someone who adds levels to an old game (thus enhancing the experience for others).
I have more machines that ToplessZ.
I expect that I have more PCBs than ToplessZ (although with recent thinning, that might not be the case).
I wouldn't, for a second, believe that I am more entitled than he is to include ROMz in anything I do.
I certainly wouldn't be foolish enough to state it explicitly in the auction description.
ToplessZ -- take your lumps on the ROM issue -- there is no winning argument for you to make.
As for pricing, if you can get that price, then more power to you.
