Lara Croft Custom action figure -- work in progress

Yet another figure to add to my already-bursting collection...
Let me know how I'm doing so far!

very interesting concept. just checked out your GI joe stuff too. my only suggestion (which holds true of most small models) is to avoid gloss paint. at most use satin/semi-gloss. so what are you using for the custom parts like laras hair?

I actually don't mind the gloss look, depending.  Kinda gives it more
of a "toy" look if that's what I'm going for.  Plus I haven't had much success
with matte finishes, they all seem to be kinda sticky even after they supposedly cure.

Lara's hair is entirely apoxie sculpt.  I just rolled thin strands and placed each down one at a time.  After I ripped off Domino's black hair, that is.

My website has more super-hero customs -- Captain Marvel, Ms Marvel, Green Lantern, the Composite Superman, and so on.

And oh yeah, my arcade stuff is on there too  :)

true about retaining the 'toy' look. when it comes to painting models, im the reverse. i can handle mattes the best, and gloss looks the worst! so i tend to like WWII aircraft for instance when it comes to models. i like hand-brushing over fiddling around with airbrushes so if it needs some gloss somewhere, i prefer to paint it matte and then use gloss pressure packs on it (",)

anyway, great work so far!

Thanks... I had forgotten about that one.

Looking at others' work I like the matte look when taking photos and such,
I'm just not very good at getting the finish right.

Do you use a matte clear coat to protect your models after painting?  If so,
what brand do you use?

i havent yet. i should as it helps give camo paint jobs a more homogenous look. if i did, it would probably be tamiya (and enamel because im old fashioned) as the shops always have a large range of their stuff.  having said that, most of the paints in my 'kit' are humbrol at the moment...
