Arcade Life Style in LA and Vegas [pictures inside]
« on: May 06, 2008, 02:59:01 pm »
I'll go in June one week in Los Angles and three days in Vegas for holiday.

What are the 'MUST SEE' places I've to plan there ? ...'ArcadeLifeStyle' related of course  ;)

I already have few spots in Vegas, but what about LA ?

Unless it's changed in Vegas recently, you really only need one stop on your list : The Pinball Hall of Fame.
The Gameworks on the strip was a major disappointment last time I was there (about a year ago), and arcades in the casinos seem to be dwindling - New York New York, was the last decent one I was in, but that was a couple years ago. Circus Circus is another 'must miss' for me anymore.

I haven't been there in probably 10 years but in the LA area, south of the LAX airport there is the Redondo Beach Pier "Fun Factory" arcade. Probably your best bet for gaming:

There is also "Miss T's Barcade" in Korea Town, a dive bar with some vintage game action:

Wow, I haven't been to the Redondo Beach pier arcade in over 15 years. I'm glad it's still there. Full of gimmick games, but that's to be expected. When I was a kid, my Dad bowled at El Dorado Lanes in Westchester, just to the northwest of LAX. That place was ground zero for all my fuzzy 80's arcade memories.

I'll have to check out that bar. That second video looks great and made me feel all funny inside.  :dizzy:

I love the darkness of the second video. That's exactly how I remember arcades.
That first video was too bright. I stopped going to arcades when they turned the lights on.
I remember as a child being intimidated by all the older guys in the dark arcade....and I loved every minute of it.

Hey Darth Nuno,

Shame you are not delaying your visit for a few months, then we can get together with the DLP crew at CGE.

Pinball Hall of Fame is the only place in Vegas that is of any notice.

I remember Redondo Beach Pier Arcade (on the actual pier) and down in the marina back in the 80's.

First time I saw 10 working Dragon's lair machines and 20 or more Starwars Vector all lined up.  I mght have some pictures of that somewhere as I was snap happy in the day.

I too haven't been back in 20 years.

Darth: Just please don't find another Galaxian 3 to take back home!!!  ;D

Last time I saw the monster machine as at the Luxor.

Have a nice trip.
If I had only one wish, it would be for three more wishes.

I missed this thread - but I would've said FORGET the Fun Factory, and make sure to hit Miss T's!! Talk about selection.

Wow I live in LA and had no idea that they had an arcade in the Santa Monica Pier, nor the one in westwood and the japansese arcade downtown...!  Crazy! Great photos!
