Resolution Tool Woes
« on: May 06, 2008, 11:44:52 am »
Hi All ,

I'm rebuilding my arcade machine form scratch . It's been 3/4 years since I've been through all this but I'd appreciate some help . I have a horizontally mounted Hantarex 25" monitor . I'm using XPSP2 with a ArcadeVGA and JPAC . I have the PC up and running with the ArcadeVGA working . I have mame installed with all my ROMs . OK , here's my problem . On the Ultimarc site it says that I should be using "direct draw" , "no hardware stretching" and enable "switch resolution" . Fine , I created a MAME.INI using "mame -createconfig" and changed these settings . OK , everythings working but a lot of my favourite games don't show up well . Frogger for example . If I'm not mistaken Frogger is 768x224 . Obviously I can't see it well as my ArcadeVGA doesn't support this resolution .

OK , at this point I figure that I need a resolution tool to sort out my 7000+ roms . I downloaded Gavin Bensons Ulilty . The first thing I notice is that it's asking me if I want to enable hardware stretching  To be honest I don't know if I do as the Ultimarc site says otherwise although I thing I must use it if I want to be able to see the game properly . Basicaaly I was just wondering if some kind person to give me some info on how to set this up properly .

 Thanks in advance !

Sammy
