mame CMD / mamewah help?
« on: May 06, 2008, 05:33:43 am »
hi I'm running Mame with mamewah and some games namely r-type and bubble bobble are not working but they do work in mame32 the ROM directory is the same.

I'm not sure if i need to set something in Mame.ini Ive had a search around but not found anything.

this all started because i found out I'm no good at bubble bobble when i was at a gaming event for charity on Monday in wolverton milton Keynes, anyone here go?

also the reason I'm running mamewah and not 32 is because I'm not using great hardware in my bartop project but that's another post.

Thanks

James

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

Are you using the same version number of MAME as you were MAME32?
If not, your romsets may be different.

whatever version your roms are for, get that version. The version of 32 they worked with, get the same version for standard.
Though if you're using an older computer, you might want to go even older in your mame version, then search here for how to rollback your romsets.
I use FastMAME .84 myself with mamewah and it works great in my cabinet's 733mhz.

If everything works great for you at this point, there's really no need to upgrade with the next mame release. Unless you're like me and you update your MAME roms with every release.
