Oregon Ducks Cabinet Finished 5/22/2008
« on: May 01, 2008, 11:40:03 pm »
My wife left town last weekend and left me to my own devices.  So what did I do?  Ran out a bought a cab to Mame obviously.  I rushed to get basic construction, painting and control panel prep done before she returned in 24 hours.  This is my third cabinet.  She took the camera and broke it, so all I have is the before photos to post for now.

The CP is hinged which is real cool I might have to do that to my next scratch build.  Although after this I'm already planning a juke.  At any rate the theme is Oregon Duck Football.  Just cause I always wanted to do one.

Can you post some pics of the hinge system you are talking about?

Found my old camera, still works!

Walmart screwed me on the paint.  Cheap enough but two cans of the same color are'nt the same shade.  Too bad it took so many coats so i had to paint the CP with the second can.  Not sure how I'll fix that yet.  Perhaps buy yet another can of paint.

Why would you have two cans for one cabinet?

Anyways, two cans of the same color will always have variances. What you need to do before painting is to mix together all cans of the same shade. That way you get an even color across all cans.

Yeah Lessons learned....  I used quart cans as usually that is enough.  However covering the dark purple with green took a lot of coats.  I've determined that I need to use the remainder of the CP paint which I still have 80% of to repaint the rest of the cap to match the cp.  Looking for a better bezel idea as 1. I cut the monitor hole the wrong size. 2. The posterboard I could get was not large enough so I had to patch it together. I was considering using a thin piece of plexi painted black and may just tape off the screen area before I paint it.  What are people using for bezel material?

yeah Midway's hinged CP is great. Was that a factory 2 player Blitz? reminds me of a KI cab for some reason.

I believe it was a 2 player blitz 99 by Midway.  I have a question.  I want a certain button to play a song.  Is this possible in mamewah?

Was that hinge on cp already there?

if not, where did you get it, and did you bend one side or it came in that shape??

I'm still unhappy with the bezel so I'll try again.  Third times the charm.

AwesomeAlbert I have one of those hinges that I'm not planning on using.  I think I still have the elevator bolts for the front but I may have to dig around a bit.  PM your address and I'll drop it in the mail if you want it.

newtrix,
Very nice.  Good work.

I did one with a college football theme as well  (MSU Spartans    Sparcade!)

Look forward to seeing what you do for your jukebox.
I did one of those as well, but I resisted calling it Spar-Toons! :-)

Thanks Sparcade,  i'm still in the early planning stages on the juke.  I have all the parts, but hav'nt settled on a shape yet.  I'll be sure to post pics whatever i do.  The cp and bezel are indeed vinyl diamond-plate which is easy to use and gives a nice effect.  I probabbly won't be using it again for a while because it has been in my last two projects.  However i think a carbon fiber variation is available which would look good too.  My marquee from scott at mamemarquees.com should be arriving soon so I can finish this cabinet for my father-in-law.  Although his game room won't be ready for a few months :(

Well i finished the Oregon arcade tonight by redoing the Bezel a third time, and mounting the Marquees.  Here are the final pics.
