Desperate Trouble Shoot help with Factory CarnEvil Arcade
« on: May 01, 2008, 05:51:54 pm »
I've been looking desperately for someone to help me with this, but there seems to be no forum that i can find that can help me with the answers.. if you know of one please send me a link.... (ice also tried going to arcade rooms to fget incontact with an arcade machine mechanic...but no luck) .. i have an original factory made carnevil arcade machine, it's NOT a mame project...i dont know much about  it, but it seems to have a very minor issue...maybe some of you know what it is and its just a minor fix, during game play, whenever i pull the triger, it just reloads, the trigger and pump works fine...i thought the guns just simply need to be recaliberated, but whenever i aim it doesnt seem like the signal from the optical lens is reading to the screen, isometimes...maybe one out of every 100 trigger pullls it will register a shot on screen at exactly where im aiming....can it be a bad connection?...do i need new guns? any help or directory in help would be appreciated, thanks

Are the lenses dirty?  Gun might need a good cleaning perhaps

i thought that was it too... the whole arcade machine IS pretty dusty..and hasnt been played much.. but i took a dry cotton swab to the outside lense.. perhaps i have to clean it on the inside as well?...the problem IS with both guns ...,,does that happen sometimes with dirty lenses?

Make sure your monitor is clean.  And mirror, if so equipped.  Same with your bezel (the glass covering the monitor area).

Look at the lens on your gun.  Is it dirty?  You may want to disassemble the gun and clean it.  Yes, both sides.  Also check the gun PCB.  There is a sensor pointing out towards the barrel.  Sometimes the solder joint on it breaks.  If it has, resolder it.  If it's totally broken off, you may need a new PCB.

Along with the stuff others have mentioned, you may want to try turning up the brightness on your monitor.  Also, check the 5 volts at your game board.

Also check the alignment of the stars.  They might just be against you.   :dunno
