U64emu Setup
« on: May 29, 2003, 10:27:53 am »
I have the mame roms kinst, kinst2 and the .chd folders for each of them.  I tried imputting the info for the unzipped roms into setup for each ki1 and ki2 and pointed the emulator to the .chd files, but I get an error when I try to run the games.

Specs:
AMD XP2000+
ATI 7500 64mb Video
Win98SE
20 G HD

Suggestions?  Is there a tutorial anywhere?

If i'm not mistaken, U64 can't use the .chd format.  I think the hard drive files need to be in .img format.  I'm pretty sure it doesn't recognize the .chd format.  You can't just rename the other format either.  You'll most likely have to download new hard drive images unless there's a way to convert them back to their original state.  Hopefully someone else can elaborate.

Thanks for the reply.

That would make sense.  The readme that is included with the emulator refers to .img files and I wasn't able to rename them.  I'll have to try to download the image files and go from there unless anyone knows how to change a .chd file to an .img file?

there's a handy program to convert the .img images into the .chd images, and I think there's a way to do what you need too.  Go to the U64 homepage and look for the link, I remember reading something about it there.
