  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

mamewah question: Remove game from list
« on: April 25, 2008, 09:26:54 am »
Does "remove game from list" only work with custom lists? I've never used a custom list, and I can't remove any games without manually editing the emuname-0.lst

Its just for custom lists I beleive.

Is there a way to hide the "All Games" list-0?

Also, any way to filter out mature titles? I've got some friends coming over and their kids are going to be playing.

Yes it is just for custom lists (the main list is used to create custom lists, when using filters).

The main list cannot currently be hidden, although by setting cycle_list 0 in it's ini file, can be avoided if using the next/previous list shortcuts.  Someone else just requested an option to hide this list, I am going to try to do it for the next release.

Use catver.ini, and use the Category Filters to get rid of them.

That would be cool, to allow for maintaining complete rom sets, but not overwhelming non-initiated users with massive Mahjong lists.

If Cycle list 0 does the trick, that seems like it would work fine as long as you navigate off it before anyone uses it right?

1) OK, you need to download catver.ini, preferably corresponding to your Mame version. I used to get it from: http://www.mameworld.net/catlist/ .  Note that this version hasn't been updated for a while...I use Mame 0.99 so I haven't bothered to see if anyone else make an updated version, but I expect a search would fine someone probably has.

2) Place catver.ini in your Mame folder and point to it in your mamewah mame.ini file, eg:

catver_ini_file                           c:\mame\catver.ini

3) Refresh your main games list (the category info will then be picked up)

4) Go into a custom list (any list other than 'All Games'), and go into Games List Options > Generate Filtered List...  At the bottom of this submenu will be Category Filters - select that and things should become obvious at this point. Back out of the menu and your list will be filtered accordingly.

Yes. BUT, if you use the 'Select Platform' menu then it will still be visible in that list.

Thanks minwah. You're awesome.
Luckily, I use Mame .84, so finding the catver.ini on that site was no problem.

I understood where it went in the mame.ini, I just didn't know how to use it in mamewah. Thanks for the info.

The more I use mamewah, the more I love it.
