Trackball Calibration Help
« on: April 24, 2008, 08:42:38 pm »
My friend and I are building a cabinet, and he had one of his friends cut the control panel. We are using an X-Arcade trackball, and the way the guy routed out the opening for the trackball, it will only fit in one way. When we position the trackball into the routed area for it, the trackball is off by about 45 degrees. Is there any way to change the calibration on the trackball to make up for this? Thanks for the help.

No not that I know of.  You can alter it by 90degrees by swapping axes, but 45degrees out means that both X & Y axes would be used for straight up, down, left or right.

Logitech (& IIRC microsoft) used to have mouse drivers that let you rotate the axis.  The current versions don't seem to though.  And WARNING, the accuracy wouldn't be as good if you did rotate the axis.  And I'm not sure if the driver rotation will work with windows newer RawInput that mame now uses. :(

One thing though, you could edit mame's source and get better control of marble madness; MM had the TBs mounted 45 degrees like your's, and mame loses about 50% of the precision when it rotates the normal PC mouse inputs.  (I'll help you with that source edit if you're interested.)

Didn't realise that...I wondered why the bolts seemed in a different orientation to most tho.
