question about Mamewah, U360, and UGC files

I just ordered two U360s to replace my Happ Universals.
I use Mamewah with FastMAME .84
This version of MAME is before the analog mapping was added, so I'm going to have to use UGC maps for every game.

Is there an easy way to, say, generate all of the 4-way.ugc files I need for each 4-way game, and 8-way, etc? Is there a simple batch file or a program I could use?

I can't upgrade MAME because of the PC I'm using in my cabinet (733mhz), and I'm not sure I want to switch FEs (I know a lot of you love MALA, but I love Mamewah). Just trying to figure out the best way to handle this.

I don't think you want to generate maps for each game.  I think you just want to use the 4-way, 8-way, etc. that come with UltraMap and apply those maps based on the controls specified in controls.ini.

But, and correct me if I'm wrong, to use ultramap with mamewah and an older version of MAME, you have to have one for each game title. When the game loads, it loads the UGC with the same title, right? So I would have to make a 4-way, then copy and rename for every game. Make 8-ways, analog, and Q-bert style (at least that one is easy to handle).

Like I said...correct me if I'm wrong. I'm just trying to find an easy solution for the copying and renaming.

Thanks for trying to help. If I switched to MALA, it wouldn't be a problem anymore. I just don't want to change things after finally getting my cabinet software running good. (Changing out the sticks will create enough issues already)

Yeah, I've seen your thread, but it's got nothing to do with my problem. (Only slightly related)

If I understand your post correctly, you basically want to use your U360 with mamewah and have the selection of controller type be selected automatically as done in MALA, GAMEEX, etc. that use plugins. The feedback from Minwah is that this might be possible with Mamewah in the next build to some degree.

Yeah, I saw that. I'm glad it worked out this way.
(I get U360s, love Mamewah and don't want to change, then find out the author of it has U360s and decides to make some changes. WIN-WIN situation!)

I'm surprised someone hasn't asked for this before...or maybe they have and I missed/forgot it

I'm still waiting for my U360s to ship. I'm just trying to get ready for them. I'll test it as soon as I get them, though.
