Please comment on my galaga control layout

This work is inspired by atomsmashers layout.

The first time I saw Atomsmashers galaga control panel i fell in love with it. At first I had intensions to use the same layout. As I worked on it though there was changes I wanted to make to make it my own. and what i felt was better. such as symmetry. The result is this post. Side artwork was trimmed. a saucer was placed in the top center and two smaller saucers on the side. the signiture instructions were placed in the same area as atomsmasher.

Please comment on what you think.

Got to say it... looks simple but awesome. Love the little instructions on the panel. Nice touch!

I would be tempted to change the colour of the buttons and joystick. Also the colour behind the buttons (that is currently white) I might change that to contrast the buttons.

Try a couple of colours that you think would suit and post them up! That way you can get feedback on what looks the most appealing!

Great effort though!!! :applaud:

the model was done in sketchup so the controls are components. im not sure how to change the color on them. color suggestions are always wecome. especially if they are boring ;)

Look good.  Simple and clean.

I feel like this is something missing bottom center though.  Seems empty.  Maybe some text like the galaga title would help.

That is just based on my very limited experience though.

BASS!

I have seen the layout you are basing yours off of. I loved the original and if you can copy it as good as he did, then you have done well.

I think the instruction windows are huge. You could get by with smaller ones.

On the bottom of the panel, where you have the alien ship flanking the instructions on either side, I would replace them and the instructions with the alien ship swooping in as seen on the bottom of the original overlay:

One last thing - the player 1 joystick (left player) needs to have the joystick closer to the green ribbons in the artwork. It would match the white buttons. I'm sure it's perfectly centered, but it doesn't look like it.

I did a modified Galaga control panel recently. Here is a shot of it.
