The students at the Gilbert school district’s Desert Ridge Junior High School in Mesa were evacuated Tuesday morning after smoke in one of the boy’s bathrooms set off the fire alarm, district officials said.The Mesa Fire Department declared the school building to be safe, and students have returned to their classes, said Dianne Bowers, the district spokesman.A Parent Alert on the district Web site alerted parents of the evacuation.The fire department and school administration are investigating the reasons for the smoke.A call to the Mesa Fire Department was not immediately returned Tuesday.
