Playing a PAL Dreamcast game on an NTSC (US) Dreamcast
« on: April 11, 2008, 04:00:06 pm »
hey guy's, I acquired a PAL Dreamcast racing game, really want to be able to play it, but the game loads up and all I see is a rolling screen, If I had an old tv with a vertical hold switch, it would be playable, but thats old school, any way I can play this game properly on my USA DC. Would boot disc DC-X be a viable work around?

The game loads fine, I just cant make anything else out to play it

any suggestions/help would be appreciated, cheers

That's odd. Most modern TVs that I have come across can handle PAL and NTSC signals. I thought it was mainly the older TVs that could only handle one type of signal.

One solution would be to buy a VGA adapter and hook your DC up to a VGA monitor or your TV's VGA socket (if it has one).

if you have an arcade bac with a 15K arcade monitor it can be played on it also by modding the vga box.

this would enable the dreamcast to display 100% native.

its 'F1 Racing championship' from 1999, based on the 1998 season I believe

I looked for an NTSC version but no joy  :banghead:

If it was a downloaded game, some have a 50/60 hertz option.

DC-X should work for you.

I use it in the other way to play US Games on my PAL Dreamcast.  But i think it works in both way.
