U5000 vertical yoke inductance
« on: April 07, 2008, 11:48:37 am »
Do anyone have a measured value for inductance for this yoke?  I have measured a similar yoke in other monitor and the vertical yoke measured 100 mH.  Mine only measures 10 so I am wondering if the yoke has gone bad.  I too have the problem with U5000 failures but have replaced or checked all of the components and still it wants to draw too much current.

The reason I am asking about inductance is it seems a better measure of the yoke than just DC resistance which will not show up shorted turns really well.  But an inductance measurement will.

Most people here either don't own an inductance meter, know what it is, or know how to use one. Even I don't own one.

I know what they are and how to use them, it's simply that I don't have the money to buy one. I've gotten by for over 30 years without one. True it would be nice to have one, but I've got more important things going on.

Mine is part of a $125 meterman multimeter. Will assume yoke is bad since that is all that is left.

well a short winding would certainly kill the frame i/c,bloody rare though

usually some sencore z-meters listed on ebay .... and for CONSIDERABLY less than new $ .

i use mine several times a week - ( repair service)

ring checks on vert windings usually aren't accurate.

but, can sub vert drive with the tva-92 (60hz)  . i'll have to double check on the ha-2500 's capability

Whats a good generic replacement for a U5000 chassis?
All I can find are standard res chassis....
