discolored monitor help
« on: April 02, 2008, 05:05:52 pm »
i have a crt monitor and the neckboard fell off in transport, i put it back on but now the edges of the screen are all purple/green. Is there an easy way to fix this? I tried to degauss,  when I do the screen looks perfect for a split second and then reverts back. Will this work?

first, use a manual deguassing coil.     or the magnet "trick" if thats all u got...

it shouldn't "look perfect for a second then revert"  .

disconnect the internal coil , then deguass.

if pic stays normal, the thermistor could be defective or just loose.

I have a monitor that won't degauss completely too.  I have a manual degauss coil and the top of the screen's RED won't come in completely...it has a yellowish tint.  I've tried everything.  The only thing that works is facing the game a different direction,  which isn't something I can really do as it's where it will fit.

frizzlefried maybe one of the monitor fixing bolts is magnetized or a speaker a wee bit close

frizzlefried maybe one of the monitor fixi

If the problem was consistent regardless of position I'd think so...but if I face the cab the opposite direction it's fine.

It's an "Earths Poles" thing.

I have found it hard to get the color correct in one corner of my cockail where it was at the old house.  It is much better where it is situated in the new house.  Manual degausing wouldn't even cut it.  I definitely think its possible to have a monitor that just won't be happy in a particular spot.  I do think you can tweek things by placing small magnet(s) around the perimeter of the monitor where they would help.  Then again, I could be full of ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---.

have had to resort to magnets on occasion.

don't place them on the crt coating. find a clear spot towards yoke or on edge .

if improperly placed , the internal deguassing coil may nullify the correction.
