I keep my Neo Geo carts in the base of my neo cabinet, and I hide stuff behind coin doors. Im the only one with keys, so who knows whats in there...

I have found though that removable coin boxes are one of the greatest tools when working on a game. Its handy keeping all of the nuts, bolts, and random small junk in the cabinet without all of it being loose in the bottom.

The last two cabinets I obtained, the previous owner stored a small assortment of spare parts (and a few junked parts as well, apparently he used it as a trash can in a pinch). Off the top of my head, one cabinet had a few cherries, screws, an extra joystick handle (a Wico from the looks of it) and a couple of manuals, the other cabinet sported some screws, extra lengths of wire (useless aluminums, bleh), some nuts and bolts, a hex wrench and a manual. I ended up discarded most of what I found since most of it had water damage.

I don't really store anything inside what few cabinets I have unless what I store in there is specific for that particular cabinet. Manuals, unique replacement parts and spare IC's are things I would likely store inside the cabinet. Once I complete my WIPs, I plan on attaching a small pouch inside all of them with a burned CD of all the notes and related files I might have for that particular cabinet. That way I can refer back to them if I ever have to do something with that cabinet.

I'm gonna end up using the inside of mine for storing console games and controllers. I've got all my consoles in the same room that the cab is going in so it makes sense to me.

Odd as it may seem ... this thread reminded of a CSI episode I saw once.   :dizzy:

We hid the kid's christmas presents in mine this past year.  I was impressed at how much space there really is in there.  =)

If ever I need a proprietary tool to work on a specific game, I'll throw that tool in the coin box, so I dont lose it elsewhere!! :D

I'd never do that!

sike

thats the bottom of my mame cab, 2 Neo Geo AES systems & controllers, the complete collection of the mini arcade games from amazon, a giant bag of buttons and sticks are in there now too.

I tried to take a pic, but my camera phone sucks... but in the bottom of my MKII cab(running UMK3) is MK1 PCB & sound and cables in a box, MKII PCB & sound and cables in a box, NBA Jam 3.1 & sound and cables in a box, and NBA Jam TE V3.0 & sound and cables in a box. And all the manuals I have for those games in an envelope

In the bottom of my Neo Geo Cab are a tons of manuals, instruction cards, and mini marquees (mostly reprints). I have a stack of the carts next to the machine just because they are easier to access that way. on the shelf next to the 2 slot mobo is a small collection of dipswitch papers for neo games.
