Hot pixel on LCD
« on: March 31, 2008, 04:22:59 pm »
I've got what looks like a "hot pixel" on my LCD. When I got this monitor for the first time, I had three or four stuck pixels. Using a couple of tools (such as UDPixel) and techniques, they were all corrected and the screen appeared perfect.

Just recently, I noticed a hot pixel. Tried all the usual techniques to get rid of it and it simply won't go away. It's actually driving me crazy.

If you look at the monitor dead on, you can see the white spot pretty clearly (even on a white background). As you move your view angle up, changing the angle, the hot pixel becomes even more and more prominent. As you move your view angle down, the white spot eventually disappears and appears to blend in until your view point is almost parallel with the monitor, then you can see a slight hint of the pixel.

When I threw UDPixel at it and examined the pixel closely, I noticed the pixel seems to "shift" with your view point. Moving your view angle from left-right is the worst, the pixel actually appears to be behind the pixels rather than actually be a pixel. So even though it appears I have the UDPixel window right on the pixel itself, when I change view angle the pixel appears to be either behind the flicking square or off to the side. I can't seem to pinpoint exactly which pixel is stuck.

Any ideas on what's going on and how to fix it (if possible)?

generally, that would be a panel replacement - either driver/address boards or the panel itself. $$

had not heard of UDPixel before now.  interesting concept.  tnx for the supplemental education.
