Hantarex MTC 9000 picture width problems :'(
« on: March 26, 2008, 08:00:57 pm »
:'( Im using an old JAMMA cab with a Hantarex MTC 9000 monitor, which until recently has worked perfectly. However, on some games i notice that the picture is too large for the screen. I cannot seem to adjust the picture width enough to make it fit the screen, as the control board only allows me to adjust it to a width that is still wider than the screen itself. Could this be a problem with a faulty capacitor? (im thinking C42)

Any help would be appreciated greatly   :)

If it hasn't been capkitted then do a full capkit. Hantarex monitors love capacitors. On these monitors if you find one bad cap, there'll be 25 others bad too.

caps will probably fix it but also give special attention to the following
tr16 bc558b
tr17 bdx53a
the most likely caps will be
c42 47uf 50v
c57 1000uf 35v
c58 10uf 25v

Cheers, ill read up on the tutorial on how to cap kit. I have a bit of electronics experience and i can handle a soldering iron but thats about it  :-\ Do you think this is something i can do on my own, or will i need to have a pro look at it?

im not looking forward to getting the monitor out the cab either  :-\  Is it possible to remove the board but leave the rest of the monitor in the cab? Also, purely out of interest, what is it that the "Bridge coil" does? If i adjust it, can i reduce the picture width?

I hate monitors, why cant they just work?!?!

the bridge coil is basically the horizontal linearity,we used to adjust that when we could not be bothered to repair them correctly-it will probably work :D

Adjusting the coil didn't seem to do much, i turned it all the way both clockwise and anti clockwise, but the image size did not change.  :-[ oh well, i guess its time for a cap kit.
