Looking for an "Idiot proof" rom manager
« on: March 19, 2008, 05:31:53 am »
I've decided to put some order un my romsets, and i like to move them in partitions  (with directoryes for  snaps and artwork samples) that will contain OS (one complete istallation for each partition) ,  MAME ans the roms, i'd like to be able to boot my cab in different "modes" at start or move the "brain" of the cab to differerent "dedicated" cabs.

one will be joystik horizontal
one will be joystick vertcal (with monitor turned by 90° dedicated or the option to activate scaling at boot)
one will be track ball /SPINNER /analog (with scaling for vertical games)
one wiill be gun

wthat is the most easy prrogram to manage the files to update everything to the last stable MAME version? (providing thet i have all the needed files that needs to be used to rebuild sets)

Many thanks in advance to all.
I give up  fighting keyboard dislexia, I lost.

CLRMamePro is the way to go ;)

I'm not sure if you would need different partitions to do what you want. Depending on your FE, some support different versions of Mame in a single list. So you could in fact switch modes without rebooting your PC. For setting up different "modes" may I suggest using differet ctrlr files for each control configuration. You could then switch between them using the -ctrlr command line option to set the one you want to use.

I think you can also do this with atomic FE with you game lists
