Drivers For Touch Screens
« on: March 17, 2008, 07:21:10 am »
Hi guys,

Having just received my new touch screen monitor I have to say I am disappointed with the quality of drivers included in the pack. The monitor is not what you would call top quality, though it will do nicely for what I need it to do. It doesn't even have a manufacturers name on it anywhere, I bought it through Ebay and it arrived from a Hong Kong address.

What I need to know is, can I download better touch screen drivers from anywhere? or do I need to use the specific one included in the pack?

The program included is called TouchKit, and every time I switch on PC it asks me to recalibrate the screen which is a pain. I have checked the program for something to disable this but there is nothing. I have also noticed that when I change the 'double click' speed function, every time I reboot my PC the setting reverts to default. It is almost as if the program does not have the ability to remember settings when PC boots up. The fact there is no 'apply' button to hit after I set things up the way I want makes me think this might be the case.

The monitor connects to PC via VGA cable, and is powered with 12V mains adaptor. The 3rd cable from the monitor is USB and I am guessing this carries the touch data.

So question is, is there better touch software I can use, something free would obviously be nice, but I would even consider paying for a decent program.

Does not matter what make the touchscreen is, it depends what touchscreen interface the monitor manufacturer used inside.

'Touchkit' usually referers to an ELO interface. So try the latest ELO drivers:

Like already mentioned........ it's the touchscreen controller drivers that make the touchscreen part work. The "monitor" itself has nothing to do with it. (think of the touchscreen as an add-on to the monitor)
You might be able to open the case and see exactly which controller it's running. I've done that a few times in order to find the right drivers.

Is this related to the one you have?
