Source for small springs?
« on: March 15, 2008, 09:42:05 pm »
I'm looking for a place that sells small springs as I want to stiffen up the spring in my U360 but the firmest Ultimarc one is not firm enough for me.

Everywhere online seems to only sell in bulk.

Anyone?

PS. Please try to keep the gay/penis jokes to a minimum.

A #1, I've seen an assortment of springs at my local Ace Hardware.  That are Tru Value would be the first places I'd check.  Those places have a much better selection of hardware than a Home Depot.

B #2, what's a useful, arcade cabinet related thread like this doing in Everything Else?

I'll agree with shmokes (why god, why!!!  ;) ) that Tru Value / Ace Hardware would be a great place to start.  They have an amazing loose/bulk/oddball selection of stuff, well beyond HD / Lowes.  However, also check your phonebook for a local electronics supply store.  We have a store here in the Seattle area named Vetco Surplus

http://www.vetcosurplus.com/
  th
that sells all kinds of oddball electronics items, plus a ton of "project" type stuff.

www.smallparts.com
www.mcmaster.com

If you can't find the exactly spring you need at Mcmaster's it doesn't exist.  If I remember right they're pretty good about small quantities.  I don't know much about smallparts other than that I made a small order with them a long time ago.  I don't even remember what it was for, but I know it wasn't large quantities.

WOW.

www.mcmaster.com is pretty friggin' awesome for anyone who does custom work on anything.

Tried Tru Value, nothing usable there.

Thanks!

Yeah, not only do they have everything, but their guided search is hands down the best I've seen anywhere on the webs.

How small?  Try a click type ball point pen.
