I'm finally going to start my first MAME cabinet

A while ago I got a hold of a Super Pacman cabinet and I was going to use that but after noticing how tight the controls would be and how the sides are cut in I decided to look around for something else. Today I picked up 2 more cabinets, a mega touch cab and a converted Joust cab.

Since this is my first it'll be very basic, 2 player 6 button setup on the Joust cab. After that I'm going to turn the Super Pacman cab into a classic cabinet 1 joystick 2 buttons 19 inch vertical monitor (maybe a second joystick for games like Robotron etc.). As for the mega touch I'm not sure yet, I'd reaaallly love to eventually turn it into a touchscreen jukebox but that'll be way down the road considering the funds I would need.

I just ordered the Keywiz encoder so as soon as it arrives I'll be able to get to work!

The guy did a horrible job wood filling the inside I had to touch it up, wish he didn't do that to begin with. The filling wasn't finished yet in this picture.

I can tell it use to be Joust, I cleaned off the Marquee and look what was underneath..........


I picked up the Super Pacman myself 30 miles away for $20, I got the other 2 brought to my house today for $40.

Just got everything upstairs to the attic tonight, my plans are to make it my gaming room. These are all the pictures I have for now, I'll post more pictures as I make progress. Sorry for the double post but I want to explain what I'm doing before I may upset anybody here. I posted on another forum and was warned it may upset people what I'm doing.

I'm against hacking up original cabinets. The Joust cab even though I salvaged the marquee it's far gone, where the controls were are completely gone and the sides and front has so much plaster and coats of paint there's no bringing it back.

The Super Pacman is in good condition, I wish the guy didn't plaster the inside grooves for the monitor and control panel. I was going to Dremel it out but I think I would have only done more damage doing that. It did come out nice and smooth and I matched the inside  paint very well, I'll try to get pictures up soon. Even though I'm not fully restoring Super Pacman, I'm leaving it completely intact. There's a project on these boards I really like and it kind of inspired me to keep the cab as original as possible with only the control panel and monitor having an updated look, this one http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=59170.0

I don't have a lot of time on my hands so it'll take a little time to accomplish what I want to do, if I could do it I would just make a cab from scratch but I lack the tools and wood skills.
