Powerstrip problem w/ wg 19k4903 and RCA 19vltp22
« on: March 12, 2008, 10:08:04 pm »
I currently have a cabinet that I purchased already built from a friend.
Its a jamma arcade w/ a JPAC. The monitor is a WG 19k4903 w/ RCA 19vltp22 tube.

I was using advancemame with no issues. Problem is, the velocity 128 card I was using just doesnt have enough to play alot of the games.  I have a newer PC I want to use w/ an Nvidia 7800GT. I did some Google searching and found the Soft 15khz tool.  In my attempt to use it, I was unsucessful.  Im using the latest forceware drivers just as an FYI.  Ive tried every resolution available, and my monitor is basically "out of sync" and will not display.

So I decided to try powerstrip. I read the powerstrip thread and followed the instructions. I added the custom resolutions to my pstrip.ini, tried them, same results.  I attempted to try manually trying to go through custom settings, no help.

My question is tis.. I have read somewhere this is considrered a "low-res monitor".  Does that mean its more a max of ~320x240 res?.

I am so frustrated that Ive even considered pulling out the tube and putting in my 21" crt monitor in it.

Should I?

That pretty much sums it up....... have you tried it at the lower resolutions? (15khz)

Some of the newer video cards aren't capable of those resolutions either. (even when you use Soft 15 or PowerStrip)

Thanks for the response.

Is there a list of supported and non-supported cards that will work?  I have a few other cards I cold use.

I have tried all the modes soft-15khz offers as well as the ones listed in the powerstrip faq thread. no go :(

I may end up using a monitor if I cant get it to work.

I ended up getting my hands on a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2070SB 22" SuperBright Diamondtron NF Monitor

It was very close in size to my original one. It was a pain, but I got it in there!

Maximum Resolution: 2048 x 1536 pixels @ 86 Hz refresh rate. VERY high res for a crt it seems.
too bad I cant use my jamma boards :) oh well, thats what MAME is for ;).

(Next project is to clean up the wiring)

Making my own bezel and marquee next!

It's just a computer monitor. If you're curious, I think AdvanceMAME/MENU will work with that 7300. Just make sure you set things correctly in the advcfg's for both - or manually set them in your rc.
