This remake looks promising
although it's clearly still a WIP. I love the idea of new TMNT enemies and levels. I hope that it gets more cabinet friendly as it nears release.

I hope he opens it up to the public to be able to do their own conversion with it. I'd love to make my own beat 'em up.
Of course, I could always do that with Beats of Rage, so what am I saying?

I get the sense (from forum discussions on the topic) that he won't likely release the source. But I won't be surprised if he finds a way to allow others to create new levels that run on his engine. New TMNT levels is one of the reasons why he's doing this in the first place. The BOR mod pak system is very simple -- maybe he'll steal a page from that book.
