Wiring a computer monitor to Arcade Cabinet.
« on: March 09, 2008, 10:37:20 pm »
Has anyone done this or can give me some info on how to do this?

I have an original Double Dragon Cabinet and the monitor in it broke. Everything else works fine. I took a computer montior, took it out of it's case, and attatched it to the mounting device that was used for the DD Cabinet. Now, all I have left is the wiring and my arcade will work again! Can somebody please help me?

not quite so simple, double dragon is a standard low resolution jamma game-the game runs at 15khz video frequency
a computer monitor is high resolution and runs at 31khz video frequency
if you try to run a 15khz game on a 31khz monitor it will not sync(lock) correctly and you will have two pictures at the same time
the only way you can do this is to get a cga to vga converter, this will convert the video from the jamma to an acceptable signal for the vga monitor

Damn, sounds like a hassle. If I bought that converter from the link you gave me, would it be easy to set up? Does that converter have inputs for my DD Cabinet and monitor?

What would you do? I've been debating whether I should convert it to a mame cab or just try and fix it.

Thanks for the help.

I did. I read everything. I can't afford to buy something that might work. I'd like to hear from someone that knows it will work.
