Light Gun Layout?
« on: March 09, 2008, 10:19:17 pm »
Hello,

I have finally got my Act Lab guns working!

I was kind of hoping some fellow users could post some
ideas on Layouts for Lightgun Games...?  ;)

Any ideas, links, pics etc...
would be appreciated.

Thanks,

youki

This one is very basic, very old layout. But Nice.

I don't know what Front End you use, but with Atomic , if you wish you can build layout that can be controlable with a lightgun.  (you can for instance , if your layout is made for, shoot on snap shot to start the game , or shoot on certain screenzone to browse a list..etc..etc..  )

Youki,

Thank you.. I apprecaite that .. Was totally cluessless what to use
as a layout... I like that pic.

I think I'll just take some random screenshots of Shooter Games
and See I can Hack them in a nice layout!

I will definately use the 2 guys holding guns, Throw in a Terminator,
maybe a Alien, And Whatever else I can think of.

When I'm done I'll post What I have.

However if anyone out there has anything that is just
out of this World... I might not bother.

Still it would be cool to see what everyone uses.... :)

....
[edit]
Kind of plain so far but I'm working on it:

I saw that Terminator was listed as one of your light gun games.. I have got most light gun games to work in mame (police Trainer, Point Blank, Area 5, etc) but can't get Jurassic Park or T2 to configure with my Act Lab guns. If you have a config that work could you let me know?

Thanks

If I recall correctly.... Neither T2 or Jurassic Park are actually light gun games.  The guns they used were actually types of joysticks, so a conventional light gun will not work with them.

Close, but I made a technical correction:
If I recall correctly.... Neither T2 or Jurassic Park are actually light gun games.  The guns they used were actually types of joysticks, so...

"...a conventional light gun will not work well with them."  ;)

You could set up T2 with actlabs lightgun, but the game was designed for the trigger to be held down, while normal lightguns are not designed to have the trigger held down.  Which means no "machine gun" fire, no live tracking, and VERY tired fingers.

If you want to give it a try, enable mouse for T2, and remap as needed.  Don't be surprised it sucks, though.

 Yep what he said!...

It works ok but would be a lot better on
my tired fingers with a Auto fire option!

( You'll find these games on my list there play
better: Alien the Gun, Area 51, House of the Dead. )

I use the Mame version available from the Act Labs site..

I can still you my config file for Terminator if needed...
(Jurassic Park's a No go here!)

* Just let me know by P.M. if interested
