OK,
after all the reading on this site for the last month and all the research I have done for the last 3 months I have decided to build my own cabinet.
If I build it from scratch it will eventually be a 4 player CP, 32 inch monitor/TV and no art on the side as it will be made out of Southern Yellow Pine 1x6's to match the rest of our living room that I have built.
If I buy a cabinet then it will have art work on the side and what ever the biggest monitor/TV I can get in the cabinet.
I am hoping to have it take all size coins from dimes to tokens, along with free play.
I am not looking at having it play movies or be used to play MP3's.
I have 5 kids and they love playing at one of my friends house who has one that plays MAME games.
It will be running on a 1.2ghz AMD PC, cd-rom, 3.5 floppy, 20 gig HD, 1 gig memory, onboard video and audio, running XP pro
the CP will be a keyboard hack for the initial 2player CP. when it goes 4 player I will decide what I will use to control them then.
at the moment I have 2 4 way Happ joys and a couple of buttons.
On my wish list is a 3" track ball, spinner and enough buttons to make even god jealous.
I am doing this on the cheap, that is why I am going with the keyboard hack to start with, the PC is one sitting in my attic.
Basic specs on the cabinet are 6'6" tall, 36" wide and 36" deep.
when I get the basic drawings of the cabinet done I will post them.
feel free to comment with suggestions/criticism
Sammie
