Wells Gardner 19" monitor

My Ms. Pac-Man was playable with sound just no video...when I discharged the tube there was barely a spark which made me think that the HT was not being generated...seing as this fault developed slowly (used to fix it by slapping the cabinet a little), figured it may be fixable by re-soldering all the joints on the monitor pcb...while moving it out I found a connector loose and have no idea where it came from....It is a two hole white plu with black wires and is connected to a small 1inch piece of PCB attached to the side of the monitor tube beside the edge of the screen...If anyone knows where this connector is attached to on the board I would really appreciate knowing. Is it possible this is the fault??? if not any ideas? Like I said, if the HT was weak I was gonna start be re-soldering all the joints on the pcb...

That may be part of the degauss circuitry.

any ideas as to the fault? Sound works, game plays..no video...and the tube is not very charged...should I start by re-soldering all the joints?

Most problems that can be fixed by slapping are cold solder joint problems. That unconnected thing is probably not your problem. My old Assault had that same little connector and PCB and it also wasn't hooked up to anything.

You will not always get a big spark or even a noticeable one when discharging. I usually don't get anything at all, unless I just had the monitor on.

I would start with doing a cap kit and resoldering anything and everything in sight (especially the pins on the flyback). Even if that doesn't fix your problem it will eliminate that as a source.
