Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection for the Wii
« on: March 05, 2008, 09:49:31 am »
This game was fun.  It has a wife approval factor thats off the charts at our house and the kids enjoyed it also.  Being able to play 4 players each with their own controller or sharing one makes it pretty family friendly.  Being a Wii game sure the graphics are not off the chart amazing but they were far better than just average in my opinion.  I liked the scrolling look while the camera follows the ball and during multiball I really liked seeing the entire table.  I hope they keep on releasing more Pinball sims like this one.  I would really like to play Eight Ball Deluxe and Midevil Madness if they were presented like they are in this collection.  It really feels like a pinball game done right.

I have the Gottlieb collection for the Cube.  I never could get into it - all I wanted was a decent view of the whole playfield similar to Visual Pinball.  That version only seems to work well with the "follow the ball" camera.  I just don't dig that style of pinball sim.

That said, I'll probably pick this up when I can find it used or cheap.

Chad,
I totally understand what your saying, and the follow the ball thing is normally a deal breaker for me too, but for whatever reason, this version seemed to get it right and when you have multiball going on any of the tables you do get to see the whole table on screen.  While I dont know for sure it does make me wonder if you could select "see the whole table" or whatever as your default view.  I too like Visual Pinball and in fact have recently updated my cab so that visual pinball worked again (love those wrappers).  I guess if Homebrew ever really really comes to the wii maybe that will get ported, obviously that would be cool.  Or Visual Pinball for the 360, now that would be worth it, imagine all the downloadable content that could be sold that way..  Hrmmm, maybe I better call Bill before he retires.

Agreed, you can find the Gottlieb version for the PSP but not the the Williams one.  And from what I have been able to come up with the Gotlieb version for the wii was only released in the UK and is not patchable for NTSC-U.  Kinda sad really.

I ordered mine off ebay...came the other day.  Think this is better than the Gottlieb collection.  Camera work is much better.  I love the tables so far.  Anyone unlock other tables?  I've got all the challenges done for Pinbot.  Got lucky one game.  I unlocked Black Knight.  This thing hasn't left my psp since I got it.

Yes, you can rotate the playing field.  Just hit the select button.
