Was the machine working?  Did you move it or anything?  Make any changes to it before it dies?  It could be a RAM, socket, bad Z-80, Bad Power, etc.  There are many reasons the board will not boot.

Check all your connnections first.

Yeah i moved it to another part of the room.

I have casters on the bottom of the machine. So it rolls smooth.

I checked all my connections. Everything looks good.

I don't know what's up?

Do you repair/look at these boards?

If so please send me a pm.

Ok. Just spent a little more time with it. I checked the fuses.

Appears  both the 5 amp fuses were blown.

So i replaced them.

And guess what? Turned on the machine.

And they blew again!

What's up with that ?

Make sure the edge connector is lined up with the fingers on the board.  If they are misaligned, you'll blow those fuses everytime you turn it on.  Also, make sure there are no loose wires hanging around the board.

If you unplugged the edge connector at all, make sure it's back on in the correct orientation, this will blow fuses also.

I do repair these boards, but it sounds like the trouble is with the edge not being aligned with the fingers on the board.

Best,

Ok , looked at the MS. PAC-MAN  some more today.

I took the board out, And gave it a good look over.

Everything looked good except, I think it's that Z80 board @ 6D.

It wasn't pushed in good / kinda loose.

So i pushed it in.

Replaced the fuses.

Made sure the edge connector was seated right,

Turned the machine on.

Screen came back up with garbage again.

So i Unhooked everything again.

Pushed the Z80 ? again.

Connected everything back, Making sure the edge connector was seated right.

Turned it back on, Blew fuses again!

So can this Z80? at 6D, make fuses blow?

And make the screen look like this?

Could it go bad, Just by moving the machine across the room ???

So can this  6D, make fuses blow?

No, it cannot, it is your card edge not aligned with the fingers, you verified that the first time you plug the connector back into the board "properly" and the fuses did not blow.

6D is the sync bus controller.  Yes, it can cause the board to watchdog and not run if it is not seated, but it will under no circumstances blow fuses.  The only way to blow fuses is a short circuit.  In your case, between pins on the edge connector.

I wish that were the case.

Which anyways, I think on the kill screen level, The MAZE is upside down.

And u can go thru the maze walls and such, On Ms-Pac-man.

Im thinking about making it to level 257!

That's the level where u roll Ms. Pac-man oustide.

And take an AXE to the b!tch ...    :badmood:

Cause im getting nowhere with this machine!

Fooled around with the MS. PAC-MAN today.

Good news!   :)

Come to find out. It was that damn SYNC BUS (6D)

Without even touching the edge connector, I kept seating and reseating the sync bus.

Blew 2 fuses again in the process.

Finally, I guess i hit the sweet spot! I looked up at the screen. (BAM!)

Booted right into the game!

Till i hit the right spot, All i was getting was that screen with the garbage!

Glad to finally have my game back!    :applaud:
