HOTD 2/3 for Wii
« on: March 01, 2008, 11:08:29 pm »
Anyone know what the control scheme is going to be like for this game?  All I really want to know is will a gun like the Nyko PerfectShot Gun will work with it?  I already have a Wii Zapper.

ive heard it should be realy good with the nyko because the gun uses a normal trigger and since the game is on rails you dont have to worry about the nunchchuck being mounted in the gun...

I really want to get that Perfect Shot, but I haven't played my Wii in months so it seems ridiculous to be spending money on it, even if it is really cheap.

The Wii gets some good use in my house since my wife isn't a gamer and she won't touch the PS2 or Xbox 360.  She's a fan of the HOTD games, so, I figure its a good buy...  :)

I ordered 2 Nyko guns right off their site pretty late last thursday, got an email from them on Friday afternoon that the item had shipped, I can confirm using the tracking number they gave me it is on its way, thought that was pretty excellent customer service so I thought I would give a small shout out.  Seems all sites like buy.com and amazon were all sold out so getting it right from the source seemed logical.  I figure they will reach missouri sometime in the next 3 or 4 days, plenty of time to be ready for HOD 2/3 Reloaded.

I think it comes out tomorrow...  I'll have to check my receipt when I get home.  I've got 2 Nyko PerfectShots now, I can't wait to play...

Order the guns right from the Nyko website.  I ordered mine LATE on a thursday and they shipped the next day out of california, made it to my house today.

http://www.nyko.com/nyko/products/?i=124

Finally got a chance to lay hands on the guns, pretty impressive, it was fun playing Ghost Squad with my wife and with my kids today.  Sure in Ghost Squad the aiming is not the most precise thing in the world, still, its ALOT better to play with the guns than holding the controller and pointing, its FUN.  I understand that in HOD 2/3 there is actually a place to calibrate the guns in the game and at that point they become pretty darn accutate, I look fotward to finding that out first hand.

If that is the case, then it is big ol' FAIL for the Wii.

As far as I am concerned anyway. If lightgun games had found a nice new home on the system, I would have considered replacing the one I got rid of, but having a cursor, as trivial as it may seem, is a deal breaker for me.

Fortunately, I do already have HoTD 2&3 on my Xbox arcade machine, and hopefully future titles will not be limited to kid aim options.

uh..actually I was wrong. you can calibrate the gun and its playable without the curser. you just have to stand like 10ft away from the screen. its playable but still not as good/accurate as dreamcast/ps2/xbox guns. nyko power shot would be the best wii "gun" anyway :dunno

I am about 9.5 feet away from our 57" Hitachi TV in the livingroom and things are pretty good at my house.  The wife and I got through 3 levels in arcade mode before we bit it.  We are gonna kill those darn zombies next time.  We had HOD2 in the arcade that I owned so nothing is gonna replace that, however I also have the Dreamcast version on my cabinet in the basement, 27" TV and I can say that I enjoy playing in the big screen alittle more, mostly I would guess because of the couch!!!

I've read that Ghost Squadron can also be calibrated and played without the cursor.

Thank you!! :applaud: I never noticed or thought to look for a purchase link on Nyko's website. Not sure why  :banghead:

On a related note, I have both HOTD and Ghost Squad for Wii and you can calibrate and turn the cursor on or off in both games. You've got very similar options with it in both games as SEGA released them both. Have not played Resident Evil:UC though.

I've been trying to get a pair NYKO guns for 2 months now. I ordered it from Amazon, which noted in stock, back in late January. They gave me an estimated date of 3/23, which got puched back to 4/23. $15 a piece with free ship (over $25). Hopefully it comes soon.
Everytime I check the NYKO site, it says out of stock, and I'm not paying ebay prices (double with shipping).

I've only tried the HOTD game, but with the plain controller, wasn't much fun like that...I need a gun!

I placed an order with Nyko 2 days ago. I got an email today that my order had shipped. Check again. Hopefully you'll have better luck this time.
