Buying arcade monitors in Europe?
« on: March 01, 2008, 03:01:11 am »
Hello.

I'm interested to buy an arcade monitor (specially a tri-sync one) but I it seems it's only possible to buy them in USA so the shipping costs will be quite high.

I would like to know about a distributor in Europe that sells arcade monitors and imports them in reasonable big quantities to it will not cost a lot more expensive because shipping from USA.

It seems Wei Ya / bilLABS is from Taiwan. I'm not sure if about how much costs shipping from Taiwan to Europe, anyone knows it?

Regards.

pentranic do tri sync and quad sync(same as wei ya) www.pentranic.co.uk
hantarex do an analogue tri sync(polostar) www.hanatarex.co.uk

pentranic are cheaper but i think the hantarex just beats it on quality

i am in malaga, how about you?
shipping from u.k to spain for a 29" monitor complete would not be any more than 80 euros, you can email pentranic for a quote for monitor and shipping
i do not believe there are any distributors for pentranic in spain or france

How can cost one of these monitors?

I don't have the money now as I bought many things recently. I'll save the money for this and other stuff.

I sent you a PM :)

Hello.

I see you had a typo on the Hantarex URL, no problem :)

http://www.hantarex.co.uk

Are there quad sync (CGA / EGA / VGA / SVGA) monitors by Hantarex too?

What do you think about connecting vintage computers and video games? I'm not sure if those systems could look correctly on an arcade monitor or not, as those systems were designed for TVs or computer (multisync) monitors.

Regards.

hantarex polostar run from 15khz to 38khz horizontal frequency and are about 500 euro's,
if you are going to run consoles/mame and older jamma boards then get a t.v with scart and svideo
you can use the scart for jamma and consoles, the svideo can be used for mame via the svideo output of the graphics card-this will save you alot of money

I would prefer a RGB solution instead and if possible use the same monitor for arcade and home systems too.

I'm going to save money for the best solution, I don't want to get the quick & dirty way and prefer the best one even I costing me more money.

In technical way, do you think those systems could look good on an Hantarex monitor and capable of showing the video of those systems equally or better than a TV or Multisync monitor (10884S/CM8833, some NEC ones...)?

Hi. I was thinking about buying the hantarex polostar (sorry - don't mean to hijack this thread) but i see you (Grant) say that these are analogue monitors. Does this mean every time you change frequency mode that you'll have adjust the settings to center the picture ? I have a Wells Gardner 9200 at the moment which i'm not over the moon about.

Thanks,
ian.

 :)

yep the polostar will not remember your settings BUT the quad sync pentranic will,we use polostar in alot of arcade cabs and the picture is fantastic but it is not built for mame
