Laminete or Paint

Ok in building my first cab I am wondering what people use on the outside and why?

I've built 2 cabs so far and I'm about 30% done with #3.  So far it was stain (dark blue) and poly on the cocktail cab, paint, lacquer, rubbing compound and wax on the mini upright and it will be stain (mahogany) and poly on the full-sized slim upright I'm in the middle of.  What I get around to a bartop or another cocktail I'm going to laminate it some crazy color.

Paint. It was easier to apply in my case, at least .. I got hold of a pretty beat-up Centipede cab, so it was a lot easier to just sand and paint, then put on some new t-molding
