New Member - 1st Project Donkey Kong Restoration Multicade
« on: February 26, 2008, 10:00:24 am »
I recently discovered this forum and have greatly enjoyed looking at all the completed projects - so I'd thought I would share my 1st cabinet.  I purchased this Donkey Kong 3 cab for $50.  It was in bad shape.

I modded the control panel with a second button required for the multicade games.  I wanted to keep the look as original as possible.

Well done! My favorite game. I take it you mame'd it somehow? Or is the cabinet just running DK?

Very nice job!  How did you paint it?  Spray?  Rollers?  It came out great.

Here's a close up of the CP.

4 coats painted with 3" cabinet roller.   Hand sanded between each coat.

looks awesome, I'm in a very similar situation (i have a smb cab) and am not sure if im going to restore or make it into a dk. Would you be willing to tell me the color code for that blue paint? i've been searching for a while for that color match. Also, did you prime right over the old color? if so what primer? oh yeah, one more thing, oil based or laytex paint? thanks

One the printed label:
