I posted these already on this forum earlier. These pics were made by a Dutch guy who visited this game-store in London. Our good friend Darthnuno has seen the machine in real life and also had a picture or two.

This _so_ deserves to be saved. I totally love it.

Any progress on the SW/Puckman stuff ? Is it workable ?

SW it's an easy one to trace, but it's really hard to assemble due to it's simplicity

Puck had some blurs that made it hard to accuratly trace.

OK, I'll see what I can do about he Puck scans. I will need to get another scanner from somewhere, but everyone these days have those combined scanner/printer things which suck for this....

Is this the same style artwork? It doesn't say Italy on it like the other version, but it's close:

Looks like the Aussie version to me. That's pretty close to the Japanese except for the marquee, CPO and bezel.

Sorry to bring this old post up, but I recall someone was looking for a good front-on shot of the Namco Galaxian marquee for vectorization.

Here's a picture I found searching online from a Japanese site (http://kong.blog2.fc2.com/blog-entry-676.html).  This is the best pic I've seen so far:

Lovely pics on that link ! Did you see that micro Galaxian cab running on some Xinlinx board !!! VERY interesting !

Something else that struck me: A joystick !!! I always assumed that the Japanese Namco cab had buttons for left right, like that Italian version has but clearly, it does have a joystick. The P1 and P2 buttons give away the Japanese origin on that cab too. On the Italian version they are "standard" buttons...

thoose are hard to find, if not quite impossible

see: http://edeveaud.free.fr/namco_buttons

if someone knows where to find 2 (yes 2) pair I'm willing to put some $ on those buttons.

There's a party of cabs on e-bay Germany, incl. 4 Tankbatillions, they should have some buttons ;)

http://cgi.ebay.de/Lagerraeumung-Automatenschrott-alte-Videospielautomaten_W0QQitemZ330368538605QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAutomaten?hash=item4ceb7fd7ed&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

The "only" problem is, you have to take the entire lot of 34 cabs....

I've always wondered what those buttons looked like close up!  Do you have a Namco Tank Battalion machine?  I saw your vectorization work on the bezel/CP..looks nice :)  !  I'd be interested in seeing other pics of the machine.

Have you tried looking on http://auctions.yahoo.co.jp for the start buttons?

what I currently need is detailled pics of the original puckman. I plan on converting one of the 2 TB to pukman.
cabs are the same it's just the artwork that makes the differences

Cool, good luck :)

I was looking through your Tank Battalion pictures and am curious how the CP/bezel piece attaches?  I see there's the tinted bezel that mounts below it, but how is the bezel/CP piece attached to the cabinet?  Or rather, how is the whole thing attached in a way that the weight of the bezel side wouldn't break off of the CP when that portion is removed from the cabinet?!  ???

Is there a separate CP metal piece held in with the latches where the joystick/button assembly mounts, then the plexi sits on top of that, then the joystick ball/buttons/front bracket piece holds the plexi in?

I'm sort of tempted to try building one of these cabinets, but I have no idea what I'd want to build it to.  Maybe Rally-X or Puckman.

Looks like it's made out of the same sort of shiny white melamine plywood that the Nichibutsu cab I'm working on is made out of.

that's something specific to the namco cabs, in fact there's no separate bezel and CP+CPO.
the whole thing, bezel + CPO is made of PVC (or other material, not glass) that covers the screen (bezel) and CP (cpo)
see the bezel picture on vectorlib

you will see that this beauty also holds the holes for the joy and bttons + instructions

furthermore theres another tinted plexi that sits on top of the screen.

yes the CP is metallic, ys it's hold by latch, yes the plexi sit on top of him and yes the buttons are used to hold the plexi, but further more there's is a metal retainer (same kind than marquee retainer) that helps in the fixation

plywood + melamine, you are right.
so the cabs are not as heavy as some other cabs made of other material. they are really easy to move.  ;)
