In Japan, anyway. I wonder if any will actually make it over here. I'd like to think that given the popularity of Street Fighter it would, but then the only games I see most of the time are 2Fast2Furious crap or Deer Huntin' games.

I don't see the point of an arcade release here. I doubt very many arcades would pay the $5000 price tag, and even if they did there would be almost no way they could earn their money back.

$5000   isnt that outrageous for a  """ BUSY """  arcade.

If you only got  $300  a week,  it would be paid off in like 4 months.

$300 in one week is  $42  a day...  or   $4.20  per hour.

Now, if you have a new game, and lines of people playing it at
say  .50   a pop... with average time of  1.5 min   =  about  40 plays an
hour....   =   $20 hr

In a single 10 hr day, one could conceivably make  $200,
and thus in a week = $1400

Remember, kids not only want to challenge.. but they also need to
practice and discover all the new moves.   This will guarantee a good
deal  "IF"   people like the game.

However, if its a flop,   you just took bought a very expensive piggybank
that may take 10yrs to get out of the red.

But again,  this denotes a very high traffic area such as a Mall or
population dense area.   The local corner shop isnt likely to make such
profits.   They might get one... but only cause its being put there by
a coin op company who shared some revenue with them for placement.

Apparently its been a while since you've been in a mall arcade.  ;)
They aren't the teen social hangout they were even 5 years ago. Even the local Billy Bob's (Chuck E Cheese clone) is dead most of the time.

As I said  ''' BUSY '''  dense population areas.   Our malls here are pretty dead.   Yet
in certain spots,  even the lamest traffic is huge.   Thats why most Japanese arcades
have survived as long as they have.

Well, I looked over the vids of the gameplay...  and Im really not impressed nor excited.

While at least the gameplay is 2d,  the 3d animation is not as fluid as hand drawn
sprites.   It looks un-natural and corny.   Lots of times, the movements seem too
slow.

The glow effects are way too overdone  (as usual in most games today),  and are
taking away from the beauty of seeing a hit.   I personally HATE it when I cant see
what is going on as the characters are lost in a blaze of light/smoke/etc.

The 3d camera movments such as when  Zangief throws a person is annoying.   So are most
of the drawn out character animations that occur when you start a match, win or lose.   People
want to fight...  not watch mini movies.   If they are to be made.. they should be much shorter.
And drop all that camera movement crap.  It only makes people disoriented.

The new characters look pretty un-inspiring.   The moves on the old chars look about the
same.   And most likely, the game plays pretty much identical to the originals.  Which is
Old Hat  (yawn)  for most people.   Too simplistic too.

I think if you put this next to something like  xmen vs sf,  most would ignore the new SF,
cause the older one is faster, more fluid,  and slightly better gameplay.
