Have any of you see the new knight rider ??

I saw it, and frankly, I'm not impressed...
any thoughts ??

I think the old one beat this new one hands down....

also... they really ran out of ideas ??
do they really have to re-make EVERYTHING and make things bad ??

I caught a few minutes, and quickly realized it was just a 2 hour Ford Mustang commercial. And when I say that, I mean it in the truest sense. It was so blatant it was sickening.

P.S. Val Kilmer SUCKED as the voice of Kitt.

I think I will be going back to watching "Shade Tree machanics" atleast they arent a commercial, plus they have this magic way of putting a header on without using a gasket or any oil.

At least the Sarah Conner Chronicles has an interesting story line.  This was about as well written as the old ones.  The dialogue was terrible. The Hoff's appearance at the end was about as bad as acting and writing as anyone could imagine.

The only saving grace was the Shelby despite the commercials.

That said...this was an abomination.  It was a freaking *pilot*.  They're supposed to be written well so they'll want to make more.

what made me sick is...

the old kitt... (which is like... what... 20 yrs ago...)
had some screen on the dash... special layout....
it can spill some oil... put out some smoke.... do some jumps....
and of course, the unbreakable armor...
and stuffs...

and for this new showcase show....
the new one.... basically... only talks....
and what is worse is....

I have no problem if it can change color....
but what the hell... it can add a double layer spoiler on itself on the fly ??
Come on !!! at least make it plausible....

this is even worse than the other show Viper....

and the story line just sucked....

I still remember the first episode of the old knight rider..
it does has a pretty good story line....

this one... has nothing but the car drives itself on the hwy....

yes, its way toooooooo much of a car commercial....
ther's simply ZERO story line....

but for a sci fi tv show... I liked the original knight rider....
(given the fact its like 20 yrs old... when stunts and CGs are minimal...)

some car chase... some car jumps... some "hi tech" gadgets...
yes, after a while, its like same old story over and over...

but this one... what a let down... right from the beginning...

I hope they come to senses and don't make it a tv series...

I watched bits and piece of it last night, but it was pretty bad.  As  kid I enjoyed the original for what it was, but this one was too corny, and too much advertisement.

I stopped watching it when the ford minivan/crossover suv was keeping up with the shelby mustang.

I hope that is the worst of questions you get in your IT dept.... Almost as bad as the people who dont want to restart/shutdown their computers because they think it will make them lose all their data. I almost looked into starting out a career in IT or related jobs, but after reading about the stupid questions I decided I didnt want to baby sit morons... (So now I work at a convy store... and baby sit morons... *sighs)

As per the new Night Rider, I havent seen it, but I dont think I have to. The origonal was good, but only because it fit well in its own time period. If they made the origonal NR now, it wouldnt work; it would be like trying to make a cyberpunk movie now... It wouldnt fit into the time period correctly.

He, he...no...it's a quote from that stupid Zoolander movie.  They are told the files are in the computer and they try to break it open like a couple of monkeys.  I laughed at that scene and think of it anytime a question comes up where the individual should know the answer already.

The original Knight rider was made when there was a buzz about computers and AI it worked well then

I got season 1 and 2 on dvd recently and have watched them all and the show holds up very well there are stupid things like kit can turn things from the car (he unlocked a safe by spinning the combo lock no electronic safe)

Also i've watched afew episodes of viper recently as i traded with someone for some episodes and Viper was a underated show Season 2 and up when they went away from the gimmick of season 1 was when it started to be great and it still holds up very well

The reason the new knight rider doesn't work is simply they aren't doing it right.

Ok lets say they made it properly to todays standards of computers and everyones knowledge cause lets face it a lot of people are tech savy enough that they have to be smater and more realistic.

Ok for the tough body they could say it's a teflon compound which is very tough and resistant and can block heat.

The windows could be a super tough glass that’s heat resistant and has electing tinting to tint like kitt use to do.

They could of had a few touchscreens in the dash for video and audio monitoring they could jam radio signals they could possible have a xray lens or they can atleast have night vision and a gps tracing bug they can shoot onto cars.

There are alot of gadgets he could have while keeping the car very cool.

They need to go back to how Knight Rider use to work where kitt would do research and help locate people/property and micheal drives and goes after the baddies they can use some the the gadgets to help and kitt could pin people against a wall aswell but they need to get back to the detective part of the original and get rid of the horrible Ford advertise look

The one thing I will disagree with you on is Hoff's scene at the end.  Ok, yeah it was predictable, but if - and I repeat IF - this becomes a new series, I thought it was a pretty decent "passing of the torch" scene.

New voice of Kitt: I didn't realize it was Kilmer, but it worked "ok."  He does NOT, however, have the wit of the guy who did the previous voice (for the life of me, I can see the actor, but can't place his name).

Don't forget though, part of the joy was the interaction between car and driver - or it was for me.  That part I thought they may have gotten right.

Looking back on it though, I'll give you the Ford commercial point...and damn, just as he gets ready to go off on a REAL mission, the movie ends.

Heh . . . they should just take all the tech actually in the LAPD cop cars.  As those cops drive down the road the car is scanning every car, parked and driving, and comparing them against the database of stolen vehicles.  All with no interaction from the passengers.  The system just pipes up when it sees a hot car.  Lots of other cool stuff too that I can't remember (read an article about it recently).  No turbo boost, though, ASAIK

Mike is suppose to be a seasoned ranger, but he looks and has a personality of a guy in high school.

I was yelling at the TV about idiotic things throughout the whole show. 

I guy with an indestructible car in your garage is concerned about the gas guys so he leaves the house out the back door and flees into the woods.  The FBI agent trusts the local police enough to put her phone on speaker phone for when they are giving their address and she gave up her gun to easily.

I was looking forward to this show.  I knew it would be bad but this was so horrible it made me sick.

The whole show stunk I figured at least Hasselhoff's cameo would make the pilot worthwhile, but his suit jacket was so tight he could only button one button on it so instead of being happy to see him I felt uncomfortable for him.

The mom was the only good character, and she died.

I won't watch another episode.  They had the Montecito in the pilot, so if they have a Knight Rider tie in with Vegas were Selleck is going after KITT in a red Ferrari, I might watch it.

Ok i just watched the Episode finally and i must say i didn't mind it.

It wasn't that much related to the original Knight Rider more of them using it as a stepping stone instead of trying to continue the story on properly

As for the Voice of KITT it did start to get to me Val Kilmer really wasn't the best choice i did hear they had someone else doing it but they got rid of him and got Val to do it.

Still they have done a great job with the car so far as i have seen it.

Some of the 3D effect where done abit bad not very detailed in some area's like background when in the car etc.

Over all it could of been done way better but its really isn't too bad now that i've seen it and have season 1 and 2 fresh in my mine from the original Knight Rider (watched them all in the last 2 weeks)

The original voice of KITT was also the voice for GM truck commercials, GM became furious when they found out he was doing the voice of a Ford for the show so he had to pull out and was replaced by Val Kilmer.

I didn't mind the show actually, yeah they did a lot of things wrong, but I knew it wasn't going to be as good as the original so I went in with low expectations. If they go on to make more episodes you might find more interaction between the car and driver since now they are a team, instead of an introduction of characters as presented to us in this pilot.

They also need to step away from the whole Ford commercial presentation. How many times did they need to show us the Shelby emblem? We get it, it's a Shelby Mustang, a nice car, but big deal, focus more on the story.

They really need to focus more on tech this car has, rather than the car itself.

I'm in my post Super Bowl "don't watch crap" phase of TV habit.  I watch so much during the NFL season I have trouble going near a TV for much of anything beyond pro wrestling for a couple of months after the Super Bowl.

saved by the good guys, and transformed him to be the knight rider...

this new one... I believe... first scene... he was sleeping with 2 girls... and trying to run away owning other ppl $$.... gambling, hustling for $$ at casino.... so much for a good guy.... I can totally see him ebay the car on his 2nd mission....

the car.... SUCKED !!! the old car... has a special dash... monitors... it has gadgets... can analyse things... this and that....

this new one ?? has 2 stupid monitors which does nothing but windows media player waves.... and to make it special... it can morph into other cars add tail wings on the fly ?? what a BS.... come on.... be semi-realistic !!!!

if the car can re-organize matter like that... it might as well can have a replicator on board like a star trek space ship....

it really shows that the guys who write the stories.... (could be a temp...) the real one is on strike....

while I think a show like this might not be the hottest idea for nowadays.... but if they twists the story a little... I do believe they can make it a more interesting....

Oh come on. The car wasn't that bad. It did have cool features, like access to live satelite images to see where cars are on the road; access to live security camera feeds so it could find Mike. It could open doors, it could spot where the criminals were in the casino. It could sense the health of the occupants (even though it still asked if they were doing fine). It could repair itself. Change it's appearance. It even was super eco friendly 

I do have to say that the on board navigation really sucked. Even when the car was standing still it would show the terrain moving past 

I liked the fast driving scenes where you could tell that they were simply speeding up the footage. It has to be like that. The old show had that too.

The old show was crappy yet hugely successful. They tried to replicate that and they at least were able to replicate the "crappyness" of the original. Obviously not the success, but who knows.

I wonder what their target audience was for this show. The old show was for kids. If a couple of late thirty / early forty year old geeks would have looked at that old show I doubt they would have had much good to say.

I went into looking at the show with a very low expectation and so I wasn't surprised badly. It's not a show I would think I'd watch again, but still.

BTW how is sleeping with 2 girls something that is wrong? The girls obviously didn't have a problem with it.
