looking for older version of dmame

I looked on Mameworld and found Mame080, but I'm looking for dmame080 as this is what all my roms are classified for.

1) is the mame.exe the same as dmame.exe ?

2) how do you tell what revision of mame a rom is made for?  Do you have to update them?
