Howdie,

First off, nice site you got here.  Glad I found it before I got too far into my new hobby/obsession... Building Arcade Cabinets.  :D

I was toying with the idea of building a Street Fighter II themed cab, but didn't want to just re-use the original art.

So I've been working on a couple different ideas over the last couple days here, bored at work, & came up with something that people around me seem to like & I was pretty surprised at how well it turned out too.

I started off with the Ryu Cover art from Street Fighter II Ultimate Edition, then added a random blue Fireball graphic I found in google search, then overlaid the SFII logo.  Voila, custom Side-Art.

But when I tested it on a cabinet mockup, it didn't quite look right with the fireball shooting sideways, so I flipped it upwards & the rest is history.  LoL

Now I'm working on a High Rez version so I can print it out at about 2 1/2 ft. wide by 3 1/2 ft. tall.

Also, I was thinking of using the other Ryu SFII Ultimate Edition art that shows him from the back for the other side art.

Thoughts & opinions appreciated.

Thanks,

great comp with ryu from udon.
I'd love to see a full sideart, I mean that the art covers all the side of the cabinet.

I'm working on a sf2 themed cabinet also, check here.

Looking forward to seeing the Hi-rez of this. Personally I would do something about the white space in the center of the image. As ryu is heavily outlined it makes it seem as if his "parts" are stuck on. I would blend ryu into the white or shrink the center of the fireball. Your onto something here and you dont want it to look like a clipart montage. Good stuff! My £0.02
When pixelated clipart just wont do, just call for Betty

I did something similar with my Capcom themed machine. Read about it  here- http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=67656.0

Niiice,

I really like the grid pattern.  Reminds me of the old-school Transformers boxart.  :)

Hope mine turns out half as good.

Absolutely, that's what gave me the idea! I just wish I'd made the lines thicker, they're rather faint in the final product.
