Component Video Problems...

I'm at my wits end with trying to get component video to work with my computer.  I bought an ATI Radeon 2400 HD card for my cabinet's computer that came with a component out cable (7pin svideo - RGB).  Regular s-video looks pretty good on the TV, but when I hook it up to Component, the colors are all drained (looks like gray scale with the occasional red or blue streak).  I have the latest Catalyst driver.  I'm running Vista.  I hooked up the TV to a DVD player through component, and everything looked fine, so I know its not the TV or the cable.  Any Ideas?  Thanks.

I'm guessing here but perhaps it Vista itself. Do you have a copy of XP to try? Perhaps on another comp? Big hassle yes, but thats what I'd try.....

What resolution is your Windows desktop at? Component is a lot more picky about res than S-Video.
Make sure its at 640x480 to start, then tweak from there. My Radeon w/component adapter will not show the Windows boot screens (b/w and scrambled looking just like you say), but shows the desktop when the 640x480 resolution kicks in.

It also shows 640x420, which is the resolution I use for MAME to eliminate overscan.

I have mine set to 640 x 480.  My boot screen is scrambled as well. The login screen and desktop are unscrambled, but the colors are all ---fouled up beyond all recognition--- up.
