Joust problems
« on: May 18, 2003, 08:34:36 pm »
Greetings. I'm having a problem with the game Joust... It seems to gag intermittently during play (momentary slowdown, sprites disappearing).. I'm running MAME 32 .68 on a P4 2.4 Ghz with 1 GB RAM.. No other processes running in the background. I have tried fooling around with the display settings in MAME (v-sync, triple buffering, etc).. but nothing seems to work.

I'm pretty sure the ROM is ok, since the same file runs fine on my friends P2 550.. I can't stand his incessant mocking any longer.. I ask for your help!

Is he using .68 as well?

I'm using .61 on a P3/750mhz and Joust runs fine.. perhaps there was some code-monkeying that changed something?

Yes, my friend is also running Mame32.. I don't think it's the emulator, though. I installed Mame32 onto my laptop and tried running Joust and it works great..

So I think it has something to do with my video card.. or display settings. I'm using a nVidia GeForce4 MX420 with TV-out...

Anyone out there using this card and experiencing the same problem?
