I'm building this MAME cabinet for donation to an organization I belong to, a local volunteer first aid squad. We have an upstairs Rec room, where this cab will go. I plan on it having an EMS theme in the paint, probably white with Star of Life graphics on the sides, AMBULACADE in backwards block letters on the marquee, and maybe if I can find one, a blue light bar for on top.

So far, I have joysticks (2 ball handle nintendo 8 ways), a bunch of red happ buttons, and an arkanoid spinner. I also obtained a mostly-built cabinet from someone who never finished their's. Its MDF, seems well built, but the control panel area is rather short and the monitor area does not seem deep enough. Maybe he meant to use an LCD? Well, it was free, so I won't complain. I also obtained a better computer, a 1.4GHz P4 with 384MB RD RAM. It needs a hard drive, but otherwise works well.

I'll get pics of the cab up soon...

Sounds like a nice idea.  I don't know about light bars but I'm pretty sure blue spinning beacons can be had on ebay.   Maybe put it on a timer relay to go off every ten minutes or so.
