Restoring Side Art
« on: January 30, 2008, 10:47:53 am »
Hey guys, I am trying to decide whether to touch up the damage on the side of my Space Duel Cab, or just leave it because I may make it worse. The art on the side of the cab is huge, and I don't know of any NOS artwork, and getting mamemarquees to print something that large is going to be pricy.
There is a gouge that runs the width of the cabinet. It will need to be filled with some wood putty or something, then painted over. My concern is matching the paint colors in the artwork.

Anyone have any tips or suggestions? Here are some pics of the problem areas...

...notice the great restore job someone already did... yeah, thats black sharpie drawn in some places  ::)

I too, would be curious to find out what is best.  To me, once the vinyl is scratched, there's not much you can do to repair the vinyl other then try to color match some type of filler, or replace the side-art complete with new, at which point, you're not really restoring but replacing.

There's a number of things you can do..  For the colors, i'd go buy some paint mix yourself to match and airbrush it on.

to fix the scratches, try this method:
