Driving me mad!! burning xbox emulator...

Hey there guys.
Im looking for the correct merthod to writing xsnes9x emulator to a cd-rw disc to run in my modded xbox.

Im using nero and have tried a number of ways but my xbox just cant read the disc... im pretty sure its something like this but if anyone can help. please do.

What am i doing wrong here

Not being cheap man..i just want to make sure it works before i take any unessasary further steps ive read that modded xbox can read cd-rw discs, i would gladly buy dvd-r or dvd-rw if i knew it worked..

just not getting any straight answers on how to do it thats all..

I never use a DVD to feed my Xbox. Just hook your Xbox up to a lan cable and transfer everything to the harddrive. Works much faster!

There's no definitive answer on which drive models will read CD-RW.  You'll get mixed results with all of them and even the same model will have variations.  I've only had success with CD-RW in one Philips drive, but the same disc won't work in a bunch of other Philips I've tried it in.

I have auto-installers on CD-RW and several brands of DVD-R and DVD+R.  When I mod a new box I have to try them out one at a time until I find one that works.  Sometimes none of them will and I have to temporarily install one of my own drives that I know will read a certain disc.

In simpler terms, abandon the CD-RW and start experimenting with other media.

 cdrw and xbox rrives is pretty random. samsung v2 and some philips drive reads cdrw. get dvd-r(MINUS) for ALL drives. and yes bigass emulator disc works but mame still doesnt run from disc so you would have to copy mame on the hard drive using mc360 file manager or avalaunch. or just get a router from craiglist or something..you can find one for like $10 now a days..any router will do.

yeah i have a gba emulator on dvd-r media and it works flawless. Ive tried using cd-r,
cd-rw and it doesnt read them at all even with audio on the discs It will however read all types of dvd media. so i am going to bite the bullet and buy a dvd burner and some dvd-r media and try that out. Itll be much appreciated if someone will help me out when ive got it.

Ok guys my bro came down with his laptop which has a dvd burner on it so i gave it a try.
I tryed the method below

udf icon
udf tab - checked xbox compatible
disc at once - finalize

It will not burn to dvd should it be in a particular format? or is it just a case of extracting the xbe file and droping it to nero. I also tryed to burn it as an xiso but it still wont burn...nero wont let me burn to dvd. any ideas?

Here's how u burn successful xbox iso games/apps:

First download Qwix (Great xbox app, its a "must have") http://www.teamavalaunch.com/qwix/

From the menu in Qwix u can create iso's, it also have built in ftp upload and som other things...

After u made your iso u can use "burn image" from Nero or any other burn utilities.

I strongly suggest u use DVD-R media and burn it at 4x or lower speed, i have not had any success with CD-RW's, just in some rare occations.

I'm going to have to support the HDD option here.  I have a trio of modded Xboxes, even with their stock 8/10GB HDDs, that's MORE than enough to cram full of the ROMs you wanna play and it's a lot nicer to access without having to pop in a disc.

I totally agree with that, but i just explained a "bullet" proof way of making an xbox .iso so he/she(and everyone else) could make a successful burn

Hey guys thanks for all your help on this its much appreciated but i fixed this problem some time back 

It had nothing to do with xiso format i basicly done this.

extracted the emulator rar to the desktop
went into my extracted folder and found the roms folder for my roms, copied all the files and folders with the default xbe and draged them into nero.

Setings for nero

DVD-UDF
Virtual partition
check xbox compatibility
burn at 4x speed

That was it, the emulators work fine now and run like a dream.

I think my mistake was not having the xbe in the root directory

You can make a billion successful burns - that doesn't mean you have an Xbox that can read them.  The Xbox DVD drive is garbage for anything other than official Xbox discs.  Even with the highest recommended disc brand with the slowest burn speed and the most specific burning software the odds are pretty good a given Xbox isn't going to like the disc.

There is a reason most people end up upgrading the hard drive and it isn't purely convenience.

The xboxes in the UK that can read CDRWs are the Thompson Drives and you can figure them out by the drive tray (has two large circular openings) while the other trays are complete plastic.

I cannot comment on the US version, but I have just softmoded a refurbished unit and it did have issues reading the disc, but I just gave it more time and it worked.  DVD -r burned with Alcohol 120% works like a charm.

Just got dragon's lair working on it and space ace.  I need a bigger drive now for the rest! 

Once you have placed EvoX on just FTP everything to the Xbox.

Ok im a bit drunk right now but how the f**k do you get yer xbox to recognise an xiso?? yesterday i put an xiso on the hdd and it didnt show up at all?? I created the xiso using qwix but its usless... does it have to be a gdf iso or udf or what?? its all very confusing.

When you sober up, try extracting the xiso.  There isn't much point in keeping the xiso format if you're going to run the emulator from the hard drive.

load your xiso into Qwix and ftpupload it to your xbox game directory.
